For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2: 8-9)
Grace: The unearned and undeserved favour of God. His divine power working in and through our lives. The perfect gift. Releasing, empowering and so light-weight to carry around; it’s a bit like a fuel-supply that endlessly replenishes.
My Story
At the time of writing this, my own daughter is 13 years old and I guess in some respects she must be a bit like me. She also loves a free gift…
Flash back: I was 13 years old. Shy and squished up in a dark and crowded school hall in my home town in New Zealand and someone up the front was talking about how you can have a personal relationship with Jesus and my heart was racing faster and faster…
Finally, near the end of the message, we were asked if there was anyone present who wanted to accept Jesus into their heart. I did. I do. I braved it all and put my hand up, in the back of my mind wondering if I was really allowed to, seeing as I was pretty much still a kid.
But it was my declaration of accepting the gift of grace.
Up until that point in my life, I had believed in God… but I had more or less been religiously doing what I was told by my parents: pray, go to church, be a good Christian. In a way, it had been about more about what I was doing for Jesus, than about what Jesus had done for me.
Now, at 13 years old, I understood for the first time about the amazing gift of grace. Easy. No work at all. All I had to do was believe and receive. So I did. What a relief to have it. I was saved by grace.
That’s the Free Gift.
The best gift anyone could ever get…
It’s a free gift that’s available to anyone and everyone who chooses to accept it. A gift from God that you can have by believing and receiving.
It’s yours too if you want it. Just ask…
It’s the power of His grace to bring you into a relationship with your Creator.
It’s Amazing Grace to receive and discover which empowers you to live a new life on a journey with Jesus.
At 13 years old, I believed and I accepted the gift and I was “saved” – this is according to Jesus’ words in the bible. He says when I accepted Him in my life, my eternal destiny was forever changed for the better:
I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security).
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. (John 10:10-11, Amplified Bible)
This is an open invitation. It’s not dependant on how good you are. It’s nothing to do with who you are or what you’ve done.
The invitation extends to each of us, regardless. Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that everyone of us might have the opportunity to come into a relationship with God and live a new real life here and now, an abundant life.
It’s a gift of grace with your name on it…
How about that?
How do YOU respond to that?
(Hint. Receive. Just say, Yes please and Thank you!)>
(I pray with all my heart that you will accept this amazing gift. If you do, or if you would like to ask more questions about it please contact me at jane@graceunpacked.com)
